Beginner Guide

Fitness Terms

Beginner vocabulary that makes workouts and form popups easier to understand.

How to use terms

  • Open the glossary when an exercise cue is unfamiliar.
  • Read cues as practical instructions, not as a test of expertise.
  • Use the app note field when a term still feels unclear during training.

Most useful starting terms

  • Brace, core, hinge, neutral spine, range of motion, tempo, mobility, stability, and controlled reps.
  • Unilateral means one side at a time; bilateral means both sides together.
  • Eccentric is lowering, concentric is lifting, and isometric is holding.

Safety note

If a cue causes pain or confusion, choose the easier version and review the safety notes.
